Located a few minutes walk from Ishikawacho Station, Green Charcoal Grill & Bar is my favorite local place to dine and drink. It's a small bar/restaurant with great ambiance and fantastic food. Apparently the beers are fab too!

A well kept secret, a little haven of green and water on the port in Yokohama, the Symbol Tower is worth a visit. After winding your way through portside industrial area you can enjoy this scenic spot and take in a rather stunning view of Tokyo Bay... We ride our xootrs out there and enjoy the paths around the water. There is a bus from Yokohama Station (Bus no 26) that makes its way to the tower about every hour.
Chinese New Year in Yokohama Chinatown. This year is the Year of the Ox.
Out with the old in with the new....
We had a fun time on Friday evening celebrating Chinese new year with friends in Chinatown, Yokohama. There was a dragon parade, fireworks, costumes, crowds of people and lots of food!
Following the parade we took shelter from the freezing wind in the Seafarer Bar at the Hotel New Grand and enjoyed a pleasant drink. The remainder of the evening we feasted on Chinese food at the Peking Hanten. All in all a happy new year!
We went to our first Japanese baseball game last Wednesday night (May 2). It was at Yokohama Stadium and the Yokohama Baystars played the Hanshin Tigers. Dean has now adopted the Hanshin Tigers as his team, even though they lost!
The Japanese take their baseball very seriously - the fans are rabid and very noisy. They sing and bang plastic baseball bats together the whole time their team is batting in every innings. The singing and cheering is led by special cheer people with little white gloves!
We were in the thick of it - two foreigners in a sea of black heads.
It was fun to see how they eat at the baseball - lots of Japanese food and beer. They have little bento boxes and japanese hamburgers (beef sandwiched between rice!). Even funnier were the uniformed men running around with big plastic bags collecting the rubbish from people - they are so obsessed with cleanliness. No rubbish, empty cans, nothing left on the ground....amazing!
