killing bill at Gonpachi

I went with a group of friends to Gonpachi, a famous restaurant in Nishi Azabu, Tokyo on Friday night. Gonpachi was the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill set in which Uma Thurman was filmed demonstrating her rather gory samurai sword skills. Apparently Tarantino visted the restaurant and wanted to film there but ended up recreating the restaurant as a set.

George Bush also dined there, with the Japanese prime minister, when he was visiting Tokyo. It's a great restaurant with fabulous izakaya food and an amazing atmosphere.
